Safety & Security First
It is the mission of the DFW Special Services to ensure the protection of life and property through the effective and efficient delivery of professional service to the airport community.
After the September 11 terrorist attack, DFW DPS took over the responsibilities of the Access Control Office (ACO) and the security of the Aircraft Operations Area (AOA) from the airlines. In 2005, DPS formed Special Services to oversee those aspects of Airport Security. Special Services is the third leg in the foundation that firmly positions DFW DPS as a centralized, one-stop-control of all matters related to the Airport’s safety and security.
Over 155 employees serve in Special Services in one of four divisions:
- Access Control
- DPS Communications (9-1-1, radio, etc.)
- Office of Emergency Management
- Security Services
