DFW AIRPORT, Texas (Nov. 3, 2026)
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) has reached a major milestone in the construction of the new Terminal F Skylink Station – all six prefabricated modules have now been successfully lifted into place. The new station will connect Skylink to the future Terminal F.
The station was constructed using modular construction, with six structural modules assembled at ground level before being transported and lifted onto the active SkyLink guideway to their final positions. This required the use of heavy-lift crawler crane and extensive preparation. The crane arrived in approximately 60 truckloads and required nearly two weeks to assemble before lifting could begin. The six modules weighed between 210 and 310 tons each, with the 310-ton module weighing about the same as a fully loaded Boeing 777.
Each module was carefully lifted into place during a controlled overnight operation, with each lift requiring approximately eight hours and precise alignment to integrate the new station with the existing Skylink system. This approach minimized impact on airport operations and avoided extended Skylink shutdowns that traditional methods would have required.
With all six modules now in place, construction will continue to structurally connect and integrate the modules into the new Skylink Station – advancing the future connection between Skylink and Terminal F.
Terminal F will be DFW’s sixth terminal. The first phase of the Terminal F expansion program is anticipated to open 15 gates in 2027. The estimated $4 billion Terminal F is planned to ultimately deliver a total of 31 gates to be serviced entirely by American Airlines, expand capacity for international operations and widebody aircraft, and include areas to facilitate parking, ticketing, check-in, security screening and baggage operations.
In addition to the new centralized Skylink Station, the final configuration will provide a walking connection with Terminal D.
