DFW Airport is Beaming with Progress: New Bridges into Terminals A, B and C Prepare for Next Construction Phase

DFW AIRPORT, Texas (July 21, 2025)

A historic amount of construction at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) continues to make significant progress – from terminal expansions to roadway overhauls and airfield improvements – with one key project preparing to enter its most impactful phase of construction. The International Parkway Project, which is transitioning access into Terminals A, B and C into right-hand exits from International Parkway, will provide customers with an enhanced and more intuitive driving experience.

Detours Ahead for Terminals A and B

Scheduled to begin the first week of August, DFW will implement a set of terminal roadway detours to allow the project team to complete the connection of Terminal B’s new bridge into its existing roadway infrastructure. The construction impact is anticipated to last approximately 90 days and will result in various detours, including reroutes for drivers entering Terminal B and exiting Terminal A.

During this phase, customers will only be able to access Terminal B from the southbound entrance on International Parkway. Customers arriving from the south will be required to bypass all other northbound terminal entrances and take the U-turn to return to southbound International Parkway for the existing left-hand exit to Terminal B. A major signage plan along International Parkway will be implemented to guide customers to Terminal B.

Additionally, all customers exiting Terminal A to return to International Parkway will be directed to the North Exit. Customers seeking a southbound exit from the terminal area will be able to take the left-hand U-turn before the North Exit Plaza to return southbound on International Parkway.

DFW will be providing more detailed information in the coming weeks. Customers seeking information and timely updates regarding the project and upcoming detours can sign up for construction updates via email.

Monumental Progress Achieved with Minimal Operational Impact

The International Parkway Project is among the most complex construction activities currently taking place at the airport with work zones embedded along International Parkway and around the airport’s terminals. However, collaboration centered around strategic scheduling of work has ensured minimal impact to customers and the airport’s 24/7 operation. Airport and project teams, in coordination with countless stakeholders, have worked successfully for months to install a total of 141 large beams across four structures to create more than 3,300 feet of new bridge infrastructure in support of the future roadway network into Terminals A, B and C.

The beam installation activity took place primarily overnight across 12 shifts and totaled more than 6,500 work hours from crews. This monumental phase of the project was completed with precision at an impressive scale.

  • The combined length of the 141 beams measured 15,142 linear feet, which is over 2.8 miles and longer than DFW’s longest runway.
  • 18 different cranes were used across 12 shifts with the largest being a 900-ton crane, which is capable of lifting objects heavier than 10 adult blue whales.
  • More than 13 million pounds of beams were erected and put into place.
