As part of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport’s (DFW) ongoing celebration of its 50th anniversary year, the airport opened one of its seven runways for a once-in-a-lifetime 5K run on the airfield this past weekend.
Saturday’s 5K on the Runway kicked off at 7:30 a.m., with a mix of more than 1,300 seasoned runners, walkers and enthusiastic newcomers making their way along the course in a spirited display of community spirit.
DFW used runway 13R/31L for the 5K. The runway is 9,300 feet long, and the race did not disrupt normal flight operations.
