Customers flying to, from and through Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) can now enjoy a more modern and improved customer experience at Terminal A with the opening of gates A10, A11, A13 and A15 as part of the Terminal A Pier Expansion project which adds 140K sq. ft. to the existing Terminal A footprint. Last week, American Airlines began operating out of the new gates, which are the first four of 10 total gates planned for the expansion. The full pier expansion is expected to be open for the upcoming winter holiday travel season.

The pier area includes wider thoroughfares for customer flow, taller ceilings, brighter windows, intuitive wayfinding and will also feature new concessions, updated restrooms and upgraded passenger amenities, adding to a more modern and improved customer experience and journey.

The expansion started taking shape in 2024 when seven pre-built modules were transported over 1.5 miles to the project site. A first for the aviation industry, these modules featured a finish-out of over 10,000 feet or 65% of the Mechanical Electrical Plumbing (MEP) completed prior to transport.

The Terminal A Pier Expansion is part of a historic, multi-year capital plan that includes ongoing expansions and improvements across DFW that will deliver a more seamless, elevated travel experience. Once complete, the Terminal A Pier Expansion will total 10 brand-new gates that includes five rebuilt gates and a net gain of five new gates.
