Statement Regarding Winter Weather Event

News Image Update: Feb. 4, 7:05 p.m.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is now operating six runways.  We are collaborating with our airline partners to resume normal operations with the expectation of residual delays and some cancellations. The Airport crews are inspecting surfaces as temperatures will return to below freezing overnight. We recommend customers continue monitoring their flight information with their airline and arrive earlier than normal for their departure.

Update: Feb. 4, 11:55 a.m.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) has opened a third runway. Airport crews continue to treat runways, taxiways, overpasses and roadways as temperatures remain below freezing. We encourage all travelers for domestic flights to arrive at the airport at least two and a half hours before your departure to clear TSA checkpoints. While flights continue to resume, customers should check with their airline before heading to the Airport.

Update: Feb. 3, 10:45 a.m.

DFW has reopened our first runway for operations. Due to ongoing weather conditions, we anticipate intermediate stoppages throughout the day to treat for snow and ice. Customers should contact their airlines for all flight updates.

Update: Feb. 3, 8:30 a.m.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) confirms our runways are not operational while being treated for snow and ice.  We anticipate reopening the first runway within the next hour.

Customers should check with their airlines before heading to the Airport. Our operations crews are also continuing to treat all roads, bridges and overpasses. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

Update: Feb. 2, 11:00 p.m.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is continuing to evaluate the current winter weather event in conjunction with the National Weather Service (NWS). Airport operations have begun treatment of runways and taxiways on the airfield, and bridges, overpasses and roadways on the landside of the Airport. As temperatures continue to fall and precipitation begins to change from ice to snow, the Airport will continue treatment of these surfaces to assist as airlines plan to resume operations in the morning hours.

Initial Statement:

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is watching closely the weather event that could impact North Texas today and tomorrow. The Airport is working closely with the National Weather Service (NWS) to monitor the potential impact of the storm. Airport Operations is prepared to treat all roads and bridges on Airport property to ensure the safety of customers and employees, as well as being prepared to keep the airfield and runways clear at all times. DFW encourages customers to monitor the weather closely and allow extra time to get to the Airport. For any questions regarding flights, customers should contact their airline directly.
