DFW Partners with UT Southwestern for Prevalence Study

News Image DFW AIRPORT, Texas — Jan. 19, 2021 — A major challenge to stopping the spread of COVID-19 is a lack of information, especially among front line workers. Despite the high number of cases confirmed by test results, the true prevalence of COVID-19 infections — for example, people currently infected or in the past — is unknown.

Current numbers likely underestimate the true prevalence. There are many reasons for this, including poor access to testing, as well as the fact that many of those infected with COVID-19 have no symptoms or signs of the disease.

The results of this important study will be used to develop ways to reduce COVID-19 infections and deaths. DFW Airport is partnering with UT Southwestern and Texas Health for this important study. There are two parts for DFW Airport employees to participate in this research study: 1) answering survey questions, and 2) being selected for COVID testing.

DFW Airport will also receive a report on community/public positive rate by sector — airline, restaurant, etc. — and receive an aggregate report of all antibody test results, not a list of individual results. Antibody test results will not be shared with DSHS.
