DFW Airport Mobile App Now Displaying Real Time Security Wait Times

News Image (DFW AIRPORT, Texas – June 13, 2019) – Customers at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) will have more information to make their travel plans seamless with the introduction of TSA Security wait times on the DFW Mobile App. The new feature displays real time wait time data for all the Airport’s 15* checkpoints. DFW is one of the first airports to display wait time information for specific lanes at each checkpoint on multiple digital touchpoints.

The free app is available for download in the Apple Store and Google Play Store. For users that already have the DFW app on their mobile device, they can simply update to use the new feature.

“DFW customers expect the best when they travel through our airport, and the more information we can provide, the better equipped the customers are to make the decisions that are most important to them,” said Ken Buchanan, DFW’s executive vice president of revenue management and customer experience. “TSA Wait Times were well-received when we introduce them in the terminals, and the app helps us get that same information to more customers before they ever arrive at DFW.”

The real time wait technology is developed by Xovis and the mobile app implementation by M2mobi. The technology utilizes sensors installed at each terminal checkpoint and surrounding areas to measure passenger wait time. The sensors track the heat and movement of a person to tell how many people are in line, which direction they are moving and at what speed, which translates into approximate wait times. The data refreshes every minute to provide real-time updates for customers.

This information is fed into the app and displayed in multiple layers for each checkpoint. Customers can select General, TSA Precheck or Priority lanes to view specific wait times for each terminal.

DFW introduced TSA Security wait times in December 2018 with large, digital displays in the terminals. The digital displays indicate the time anticipated for a customer to enter the queue and clear the initial identification inspection. The terminal displays also show information for other checkpoints in the same terminal, helping customers determine whether they want to make a short walk or remain in the queue.

TSA Security wait times will also be available on the website later this summer.

The award-winning DFW Mobile App first launched in 2013 and has received over 400,000 downloads, making it one of the top apps for airports around the world. The app is continually updated to improve the customer experience and provide more access to information and services, including:
