(DFW AIRPORT, Texas – May 22, 2019) – The unofficial start of summer begins this weekend and Dallas Fort Worth International (DFW) Airport is ready kick-off its biggest season yet. The Airport has been growing at a record rate and that trend is expected to continue with more than 20 million customers this summer, a 7.6% increase from last year. DFW Airport will begin this big summer by welcoming approximately 1.4 million passengers during the Memorial Day travel period of May 23 to May 29, an 8.2% increase from this time last year.
Customers will take off to some new destinations this season as DFW Airport has added 27 new destinations since this time last year, nine of which are international. Some of the most highly anticipated additions include service to Dublin, Ireland, and Munich, Germany, which are scheduled to begin on June 6, 2019. American Airlines also recently announced the addition of new service from DFW Airport to Acapulco and Huatulco, Mexico; St. Thomas, USVI; and St. George, Utah.
