(DFW AIRPORT, Texas – May 18, 2018) – Dallas Fort Worth International (DFW) Airport honored 13 businesses for their contributions to diversity and inclusion with the 2018 Champions of Diversity Awards.
“For DFW Airport, it’s important that we have business partners who champion diversity and inclusion through their conduct, practices, and the people working for their businesses,” said Linda Valdez Thompson, executive vice president of Administration and Diversity for DFW. “DFW consistently exceeds our diversity goals for revenue and expenditure, with more than 35 percent of our business contracts awards to diverse businesses. By including diverse opinions, background and experiences, DFW is better positioned for the growth that will power the North Texas region well into the future.”
The 13 winners were selected by an evaluation committee, which considered more than 30 nominees. Key factors taken into consideration include spending with diverse businesses, demonstrated growth, demonstrated community involvement, sponsorship and outreach, and commitment to customer experience, business development or mentoring, and compliance with lease and contract terms.
“To succeed in today’s competitive market, diversity must be reflected in every aspect of our business relationships – from procurement, to outreach, to community involvement, and women, minority and small businesses development,” said Tamela Lee, vice president of Business Diversity and Development at DFW Airport.
