Construction Advisory: Next Phase of Detours Underway at DFW Airport to Construct New Bridge into Terminal A

Next Set of Detours for 90-day Phase of Construction at Terminal A Begin this Week with Initial Detours Underway

DFW AIRPORT, Texas (Oct. 22, 2025)

Starting this week, various roadway detours are being implemented at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to support the completion of the bridge that will become the new entrance into Terminal A. This is the second of three phases for the airport’s International Parkway Project, which is transitioning access into Terminals A, B and C into new right-hand exits from International Parkway.

Earlier this week, the new bridge and access into Terminal B opened ahead of schedule, allowing the airport to advance the start of the next phase to complete the new bridge into Terminal A.

With new access into Terminal B and new detours being implemented as outlined and illustrated below, a robust plan for detour signage will be in place to guide customers.

Accessing Terminal A: All Traffic to Enter Via Southbound Entrance

Beginning Oct. 24, Terminal A will only be accessible via the southbound entrance from International Parkway. Customers arriving from the south will be required to travel northbound past all terminal entrances and take the left-hand U-turn exit before the North Exit Plaza to return to southbound International Parkway. Then, all customers will take the existing left-hand exit to Terminal A and keep right for temporary access to the terminal.

North Service Road: Temporarily Closed for Terminal A Bridge Demolition

Beginning at 10 p.m. on Oct. 23 through the morning of Oct. 28, the northbound Service Road north of Crossunder #5 will be closed and open to authorized vehicles only. This will temporarily prevent northbound traffic driving through the airport on N. Service Road. Traffic will be redirected south at Crossunder #5; therefore, customers are encouraged to plan ahead with other available routes around the airport during this closure.

Terminal A Curb: Exiting Traffic Redirected to International Parkway During Demolition

From Oct. 26 through the early morning of Oct. 28, traffic leaving the curbside area of Terminal A will be immediately directed to northbound International Parkway due to the planned demolition activity; therefore, traffic will be unable to recirculate in the terminal area. Customers waiting to pick up travelers are encouraged to utilize DFW’s cell phone lots or one-hour spaces in the parking garage at no additional charge to avoid being detoured to International Parkway.

Terminal A Garage: All Parking Redirected to Lower-level Entrances

The first entrance into the parking garage at Terminal A is closed and will remain unavailable for the duration of the construction period. Customers can access the parking garage via additional entrances on the lower-level roadway across from the terminal curb.

Exiting Terminal B: All Traffic Detoured to South Exit

All customers exiting Terminal B are now being directed via the South Exit to merge with southbound traffic on International Parkway. Customers seeking a northbound exit from the terminal area can take the left-hand U-turn before the South Exit Plaza to return northbound on International Parkway.

Arrive Early and Utilize Tools to Navigate Construction

With major roadwork underway, customers are urged to arrive early and utilize the airport’s digital tools to navigate construction, potential roadway congestion and travel crowds.

  • Arrive early: DFW recommends travelers add additional time to their plans when driving to the airport, especially during the upcoming holiday travel periods. If unsure, DFW recommends arriving at the airport at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights.
  • Download the DFW Airport mobile app: Available for iOS and Android, the DFW Airport mobile app is available to assist travelers along every step of their airport journey with access to helpful tools, including prebook parking, live parking availability, security wait times and construction updates.
