DFW AIRPORT, Texas (Dec. 17, 2025)
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is preparing to reach the next significant milestone of the International Parkway Project with the opening of the first phase of the new right-hand access into Terminal A on Friday, Dec. 19, which is earlier than originally planned. Through collaborative planning and customers in mind, airport officials and project partners have worked together to accelerate the opening in time for the winter holiday travel period beginning this week. The early opening will remove various detours currently in effect and improve the access into Terminal A for customers traveling during the holidays.
As part of the ongoing International Parkway Project that is transitioning access into Terminals A, B and C from left-hand to new right-hand exits from International Parkway, this milestone follows the new access into Terminal B that opened in October. The new northbound access into Terminal A will be opened in its final condition; however, the southbound access will open in a temporary but near-complete condition. The southbound access will be finished in January following the peak travel period.
New Right-hand Access into Terminal A
When the right-hand access opens into Terminal A, customers will be guided by new signage into the new exits from International Parkway. For customers arriving from the south, the new right-hand exit will be located via the right lane following existing access into Terminals C, D and E. After entering the South Entry Plaza, customers are encouraged to stay in the right lane along northbound International Parkway until guided to the new exit.
Customers arriving from the north will take the new right-hand exit from southbound International Parkway, shared by Terminals A and B. Customers will bypass the new exit into Terminal B and follow the roadway back to a northbound direction to merge with northbound traffic entering Terminal A.

Next Phase for Terminal C Ahead in 2026
Following the holiday travel period, the project will proceed to the next phase of construction to complete the new access into Terminal C, scheduled to begin in early January. The project remains on schedule to be completed ahead of next summer. Details for the next phase of construction will be communicated ahead of the next set of scheduled detours.

New Right-hand Access Designed to Improve Experience
The decision to transition to right-hand access into Terminals A, B and C was centered around DFW’s customers – both during construction and in its final condition. Ultimately, the new entries will provide a more intuitive traffic flow and enhanced driving experience with better wayfinding and access to the terminals. The engineering solution selected has resulted in a significant reduction in construction impacts and ability to fluctuate the schedule to complete phases earlier than anticipated. In fact, the ongoing closures and detours are needed for only a fraction of the time that would be needed if the airport were to replace the existing 50-year-old bridges built over International Parkway.
