DFW Remains World’s Third-Busiest Airport for Passenger Traffic, Nears 90 Million Passengers Annually

DFW Retains Global Ranking Amid Top Honors in Customer Service and Concessions Programs

DFW AIRPORT, Texas (April 14, 2025)

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) remains one of the world’s busiest airports, retaining its No. 3 position globally for total passenger traffic in 2024, according to Airports Council International (ACI). More than 87.8 million customers traveled through DFW last year – an increase of 7.4 percent compared to 2023 and 17 percent since 2019 – marking the highest growth rate last year among the world’s top three airports (Atlanta, Dubai and DFW).

DFW also ranked third globally in aircraft movements, with 743,203 operations recorded last year – a 7.8% increase from 2023 – reflecting DFW’s ongoing role as a major connector for domestic and international air travel.

“DFW continues to experience unprecedented growth as we near serving 90 million passengers annually,” said Sean Donohue, DFW’s Chief Executive Officer. “Our continued place among the world’s busiest airports reflects the strength of this region, our airline partners and the intentional investments we have made to operate an efficient and innovative facility for our partners and customers alike.”

The airport’s sustained passenger growth comes in a year marked by major industry recognition for customer experience. DFW was named a Best Airport in North America by Airports Council International for a third-consecutive year as part of the 2024 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards, and recently received the Airport Experience Award for Best Overall Concessions Program by Airport Experience News. Together, these honors reflect the airport’s intentional investments in people, partnerships and infrastructure, all designed to create an enjoyable, customer-first experience from curb to gate.

DFW’s continued growth also reflects a focus on modernizing infrastructure, expanding air service and elevating the customer experience at every stage of the journey. This ongoing commitment is now driving the next phase of the airport’s evolution through DFW Forward – a nearly $9 billion capital investment program designed to transform how travelers experience the airport for decades to come.

With service to more than 260 destinations – including 73 international destinations – DFW continues to fuel economic growth across the North Texas region.
