Detours in Effect: Construction to Complete New Bridge into Terminal A Underway

Various detours are in effect to support construction of the new bridge into Terminal A, including temporary detours into Terminal A and its parking garage, and when exiting Terminal B.

Detours expected to last 90 days.

Terminal A will only be accessible via the southbound entrance from International Parkway. Customers arriving from the south will be required to travel northbound past all terminal entrances and take the left-hand U-turn exit before the North Exit Plaza to return to southbound International Parkway. Then, all customers will take the existing left-hand exit to Terminal A and keep right for temporary access to the terminal.

The first entrance into the parking garage at Terminal A is closed and will remain unavailable for the duration of the construction period. Customers can access the parking garage via additional entrances on the lower-level roadway across from the terminal curb.

All customers exiting Terminal B are now being directed via the South Exit to merge with southbound traffic on International Parkway. Customers seeking a northbound exit from the terminal area can take the left-hand U-turn before the South Exit Plaza to return northbound on International Parkway.

Now Open: New Right-Hand Access into Terminal B

The new right-hand access into Terminal B officially opened two weeks ahead of schedule on Oct. 20. This completes the first of three final construction phases to complete the new right-hand access into Terminals A, B and C.

If you’re flying out of Terminal B, here is an overview of how the new right-hand exits from International Parkway will get you into Terminal B:

Project Overview: Bridging New and Improved Access to Terminals A, B and C

A big transformation to roadway access into Terminals A, B and C is underway that will transition DFW’s traditional left-hand exits to new right-hand exits from International Parkway. The new access will provide customers a more intuitive experience and replace today’s 50-year-old bridges currently connecting International Parkway with the terminals.

As a project that is embedded in DFW’s 24/7 operation with work zones spreading along International Parkway, the main artery through the airport and its terminal area, consistent collaboration is key. The project continues to make significant progress with safety and customers in mind. Phased planning, strategic scheduling, complex coordination and impressive precision by construction crews have resulted in minimal impact to customers and the airport’s busy operation.

Project Update: New Bridges Are Beaming with Progress

Airport and project teams, in coordination with countless stakeholders, worked successfully the first half of 2025 to install the large structural beams across four bridges to support the future roadway network into Terminals A, B and C.

This monumental phase of the project was completed with precision at an impressive scale.

  • A total of 141 beams were placed across four bridge structures to create more than 3,300 feet of bridge.
  • The combined length of the beams measured 15,142 linear feet, which is over 2.8 miles and longer than DFW’s longest runway.
  • 18 different cranes were used to lift and place more than 13 million pounds of beams.
  • The largest crane used was a 900-ton crane, which is capable of lifting objects heavier than 10 adult blue whales.
  • The achievement took than 6,500 work hours across 12 shifts that took place primarily overnight to ensure minimal impact to customers and the airport’s operation.
