Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport remains under a winter storm warning as freezing rain continues to fall in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Current conditions at DFW include freezing rain and temperature of 30 degrees. Roads around the Airport are passable but treacherous with slushy and icy conditions reported on roadways, bridges and overpasses.
Airlines have preemptively cancelled over 330 departures scheduled for Friday, December 6 from DFW Airport, primarily morning departures. That figure represents about 40% of the Friday flight schedule. There are only a handful of departures still scheduled every hour before 11:00 AM.
DFW Airport advises all passengers with flights or those meeting flights to check with their airlines for the latest flight information, or check the Flight Information page at www.dfwairport.com/flights or by downloading the Official DFW Airport Mobile App.
The Airport’s de-icing facilities are operational and the airlines are conducting de-icing operations for every departure. DFW Airfield Operations crews are monitoring the runways, ramps and taxiways on the airfield, which have been treated with de-icing agents.
For vehicle traffic, DFW has treated the roadways and overpasses on the Airport grounds. The Airport’s road plows are being deployed as needed, and DFW is working with the Texas Department of Transportation to make sure the highways around the Airport are treated with de-icing agents and sand. DFW also advises motorists making their way to the Airport to exercise extreme caution as they drive.
Inside the Airport terminals, DFW Customer Service teams are monitoring checkpoints and Customs as well as passenger activity, and will provide assistance as needed.
DFW Public Affairs will provide further updates as necessary.
