DFW Airport Brings You Travel Tips for A Happy Holiday!

Print Send Bookmark
Snow FlakeThe cheerful holiday season has officially arrived and thousands are traveling to see family and friends from afar. Delicious meals, singing and lively conversations are just some of the senses that surround the season.  Before you get lost in the holidays, follow these travel tips while traveling through DFW Airport to ensure you arrive safely, just in time to enjoy the season.

1. Leave Early!
The highway construction in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is known to cause dreadful traf fic. If you leave too late, arriving to your gate may have some challenges. Load up the car and head to DFW Airport early to beat the lines. You can also go to www.traffic.com before you hit the road, to check for traffic jams, highway closures and more. In addition, DFW’s newly, installed, automated entry plazas will require some extra time to navigate through if you have not been to the Airport recently.

2. Take Advantage of Airport Parking!
A few days before making your travel preparations, check out the Parking feature on DFW Airport’s mobile app. You will be able to view on-Airport parking options along with a map, lot availability and rates. Remote Parking and Express Parking fill up early during the holiday season, so plan accordingly to get a spot or take advantage of being close to the terminals with Terminal or Valet Parking

3. Get To Your Gate Hassle Free.
Make sure to pack light and “what you need” to ensure you get through security lines with ease and delight.  Be aware of what’s allowed in your carry-on and what needs to go in your check-in. The TSA web site (http://www.tsa.gov/traveler-information/prohibited-items) gives you a list of specified items, especially for families with children.  You can also view on the DFW Airport mobile app where security check points are located.

4. Enjoy The Family Amenities.
Congratulations – you have made it past security and it is time unwind and enjoy the Airport's amenities just before you take off! If you have kids traveling with you, unleash them to have some fun at the Children’s Play Areas (A13, B12, C14, D10 and D33). If you want a head start in burning off those holiday calories, check out the LiveWell Walking Path. It measures seven-tenths of a mile and is aligned with DFW Airport’s Art Program floor medallions, stretching between gates D6 and D40. The Yoga Center (B1) and the Interfaith Chapels (B28, D21 and C4) all serve as a great place to regain some peace.

Also, it is always a good habit to fill up your portable electronic devices with that last-minute juice. Charge them up at the Free Power & Free Internet Stations, available in select areas in each terminal.

5. Take Advantage of The Finest Shopping In the World!
The best part about being at the Airport is the world class shopping and dining right at your feet! Open up the mobile app to browse through over 220 shops and restaurants and find what is within a 5-minute walk of your gate.

By following these travel tips, you’ll be sure to have a holiday full of happiness. Happy Holidays!
