Why Train at DFW?

  1. DFW has the largest active fuel spill burn area in the United States. Our fuel spill burn area is 152' in diameter.

  2. DFW's fire training facility has trained more than 120 national and international fire departments from 20 states* 10 countries/territories**.

  3. All of the firefighters trained at DFW have met or exceeded their states' ARFF requirements.

  4. DFW's Fire Training Facility is Texas Certified and the 120 hour Texas ARFF Curriculum is IFSAC certified. If someone from out of state or in state takes the A120 and passes the state test, they can receive an IFSAC seal.

  5. Our 48 hour Basic ARFF (BA48) course is recognized by AAAE.

  6. The ARFF EVOC course includes "off-road" driving.

  7. DFW Fire Training Academy's (FTA) Fuel Spill Burn Area and Interior Aircraft Fire Trainer are "separate" projects allowing for multiple training evolutions to be occurring simultaneously.

  8. Students have free access to all airfield systems for comprehensive training.

  9. Training is based on firsthand experience gained from incidents occurring at DFW.

  10. DFW FTA is located close to:

    • A/A, Eagle, Kittyhawk, and other aircraft heavy maintenance facilities providing for a wide variety and large number of commercial aircraft for familiarization field trips

    • A/A Flight academy for use of cabin simulators for aircraft door and evacuation training

    • Several smaller classification airports for a broad variety of airport familiarization training

    • Bell Helicopter factory offering military and civil rotor wing aircraft training.

  11. DFW FTA's instructors average 17 years of experience in the fire service.

  12. DFW FTA utilizes 16 different fireplaces that enable us to offer an unlimited amount of training scenarios.

  13. DFW FTA offers basic and advanced vehicle extrication.

  14. DFW FTA is located in close proximity to many hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues.

  15. DFW has trained more than 6,300 students since 1995.
