The scenarios will require participation in the control and extinguishment of interior cabin fires with possible flashovers, electrical fires in the flight deck, lavatory and galleys. Possible exterior operations may include the control and cool down of hot brakes, extinguishment of wheel and aircraft engine fires. Specific emphasis will be placed on the mastering of certain skills to include: evaluation of conditions, decision making, appropriate tactics and gaining access under abnormal conditions.

This program is designed to provide the Staff and Command Level Officers with necessary information to research, develop, evaluate and implement an effective Aircraft Disaster Mitigation Program for jurisdictional responsibility. The Staff and Command Level Officers will be given the opportunity to participate in various command roles during a series of emergency and disaster scenarios involving aircraft accidents. This program utilizes the practical portion of the Advanced Aircraft Fire Control and Rescue program for practical Command Level Training.

This program is designed to educate and challenge the participant in all aspects of ARFF emergency driving and apparatus operations. The student will explore the physics and dynamics of ARFF emergency driving, including the reality of ARFF apparatus rollovers. Performance of practical driving exercises will meet and exceed the standards of NFPA 1002.

The participant will utilize an ARFF vehicle in the approach, control and extinguishment of multiple large fuel fires. Scenario-based training will involve size-up, apparatus placement, agent selection and application and tactical decision-making. The participant will receive four days of actual ARFF vehicle driving. Audio and visual mediums from previous aircraft incidents are used to intensify the learning environment. Upon successful completion of the program, a certificate of completion will be awarded from the DFW Airport's Department of Public Safety Fire Rescue Training Academy and the National Association of Professional Driving (NAPD).

A combination of academic and practical instruction, this course is designed to meet the training needs of most airport fire service organizations (can also be used as refresher training in Texas and other states). The course will acquaint experienced fire fighters with basic concepts in ARFF and provide ample hands-on training. This course meets the certification requirements of NFPA 1003, FAR 139 and the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) requirements for Airport Fire Fighter. The course will include classroom review of commuter, narrow body, and wide body aircraft in both passenger and cargo configurations. The course will also include field trips to aircraft heavy maintenance facilities for an in-depth walk through of several aircraft types. You will receive instruction on: aircraft systems, engines, egress/evacuation, emergency procedures, cargo systems and identification.
