This is "The Year of the International Traveler" at DFW Airport. Thanks to the new Open Skies Agreement between the United States and the European Union, DFW now offers more nonstop flights to European destinations. DFW is celebrating two new international routes: London's Heathrow Airport, which began on March 29, and Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport, which began on March 30.
British Airways is offering daily nonstop service to London Heathrow, while American Airlines is moving its two daily nonstop flights to Heathrow. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will fly nonstop daily to Amsterdam.
What does this mean for you?
London is DFW's largest locally based international travel market. Currently, 15 percent of the DFW region's London-bound passengers use another airport specifically to fly into London Heathrow. Soon, all of these passengers can fly nonstop into Heathrow, a mega-hub for world travel. Heathrow offers 142 connecting flights across Europe, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, Asia and Africa. KLM is the newest carrier to serve DFW with flights to Amsterdam, a new international destination for DFW. Once in Amsterdam, passengers can seamlessly connect to nearly 100 locations in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
"The Year of the International Traveler"
International travelers can now fly to 40 destinations outside the United States from DFW. This is the highest amount of international destinations ever offered at DFW. As the Airport’s international locations increase, so does its popularity among passengers. For the second year in a row, DFW has been named "Best Airport for Customer Service in the Americas" by an Airports Council International survey of passengers.
