Guests attending the brunch event enjoyed regional cuisine while mingling with business and civic leaders from both sides of the Atlantic. Jeff Fegan, CEO of DFW International Airport, told the gathering that DFW serves more than 57 million passengers a year and that it has been named a top 5 airport for customer service for the past three years in a survey of international passengers.
The Airport invited stalwarts from the Madrid business community, including leaders from many large corporations already doing business in both North Texas and Madrid such as American Airlines, BBVA, Exxon Mobil and Fluor. The event served to highlight DFW’s role as the engine that drives the North Texas economy, and as a burgeoning international gateway with some of the finest amenities of any airport in the world.
Current estimates forecast the new American Airlines flight to Madrid will generate approximately $100 million annually for each market. This positive economic trend will likely begin immediately as 65 major trading partners in Spain and Dallas/Fort Worth will now have a nonstop connection that was previously unavailable. |
