International Terminal D: An Experience To Behold
DFW’s Newest, Grandest Terminal Welcomes Visitors From Across the Globe
DFW’s new 2-million square foot International Terminal D opened its doors and jetways Saturday, July 23. International Terminal D is more than twice the size of DFW’s other four terminals; passenger capacity is a staggering 32,000 daily or 11.7 million annually. The terminal is capable of handling this many people due to features like 99 ticketing positions, a federal inspection facility able to process 2,800 passengers per hour, and concession areas consisting of 100,000 square feet. All international flights are consolidated into this new terminal, as well as select domestic flights. Many passengers will find it hard to believe they are in an airport terminal when they experience the impressive art program and the upscale shopping and fine dining.

One of the most interesting elements of International Terminal D is the artwork that appears both inside and outside of security, commissioned from local, national and international artists. There are 13 paintings and sculptures, 12 floor medallions placed at approximately every third gate, and the new Skylink train stations each have distinct Terrazzo floor designs. DFW is proud to be the home of the new DFW Sculpture Garden, located under an arrivals canopy that conveniently shields pedestrians from inclement weather. The Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas loaned four sculptures to the Airport for the garden, which serves as a welcome to visitors to DFW Airport and Texas. The Nasher Sculpture Center is offering a $2 discount on adult admission for visitors who bring a DFW International Airport boarding pass to the Sculpture Center’s admissions desk. This limited time offer expires September 30. Click here to learn about the Airport’s entire Public Art Program.

There are two large concessions areas at the north and south sides of the terminal, which include restaurants, retail stores and other services. Throughout the entire terminal, there are 27 food and beverage establishments featuring local and international drinks and cuisine, including Tex-Mex, French, Asian and Irish. Sixteen specialty retail shops include a men’s boutique, fine jewelry and a winery. State-of-the-art Samsung television monitors are placed in the Terminal waiting areas, all flat panel screens airing CNN programming. Additionally, wireless Internet access is available throughout the terminal and is provided by T-Mobile HotSpot.

A Grand Hyatt Hotel is integrated in International Terminal D. The contemporary hotel design blends in seamlessly with the new Terminal and is designed to cater to the international business traveler. The Grand Hyatt DFW can be entered from inside or outside security. Passengers inside security can access the hotel from any other terminal via Skylink, DFW’s new train. Click here for hotel information and reservations.

Airport and hotel guests can park in the new 8,100-space parking garage directly across from International Terminal D. The garage uses a Smart Parking Technology System and features air conditioned skybridges with moving walkways to the Terminal. Click here for all the details on the new garage.

DFW Airport is eager for its guests to experience International Terminal D. The seamless integration of the Terminal, Grand Hyatt DFW, parking garage and Skylink train stations significantly ease the stress of travel. DFW guests are sure to experience an improved level of comfort as they travel through the new Terminal and around the Airport.
