DFW served more than 59 million passengers in 2004. With the new International Terminal D and Skylink train opening this summer, DFW is ready to greet more guests than ever before. DFW’s Airport Ambassador Volunteer program offers people from across the Metroplex the opportunity to be a part of the excitement. Airport Ambassadors lend a helping hand to travelers as they arrive at and depart from DFW. They welcome people from around the world and are looking forward to assisting guests in the new International Terminal D and Skylink train stations. New responsibilities will include staffing 10 stations in International Terminal D and assisting with special opening events. Additionally, Ambassadors will assist passengers in the new Skylink stations. Click here to learn more about International Terminal D and Skylink.
The DFW Ambassador program began in November 1998. In January 2005, the Ambassadors proudly served their 8 millionth guest. There are currently about 500 Airport Ambassadors with rotating shifts throughout all Airport terminals and at the Rental Car Center. Ambassadors:
- Meet travelers as they deplane
- Direct travelers to connecting flights, bag claim and other Airport facilities
- Provide up-to-date information on area attractions, hotels and other amenities
- Meet and greet large conventions or sporting events
- Assist the elderly, unescorted minors and special needs passengers
- Serve as Holiday Helpers, a popular program that helps ease the stress of travel during peak holiday travel times
- Meet and assist R&R flights from Iraq
- Support the USO at DFW
Bilingual Ambassadors provide much-needed translation services that are so appreciated by international visitors. This service will be even more noticeable once all international flights are consolidated into the new International Terminal D.
DFW’s Ambassador Volunteers enjoy a dynamic and fast-paced environment, and are a vital part of the Airport community. Volunteer hours are flexible: shifts are available seven days a week, morning, afternoon and evening.
