Beginning January 5, 2005, DFW will offer daily nonstop flights to San Luis Potosi, Mexico on American Eagle. This new flight is indicative of DFW’s ever-expanding international route network. The flying public will now have more options and flexibility for travel into Mexico, with the new flight bringing DFW’s Mexican destinations to 13.
DFW has approximately 28 daily nonstop flights to Mexico, a 21 percent increase over last year. Three new destinations introduced in the last year have helped drive this growth: Cozumel, Torreon and Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo. American, AeroMexico and Sun Country currently offer the scheduled nonstop service between DFW and Mexico.
North Texans wanting direct access to San Luis Potosi will fly on an Embraer RJ 140 jet operated by American Eagle. The outbound flight will depart DFW at 6:16 p.m. daily, arriving in San Luis Potosi at 8:38 p.m. The return flight will depart San Luis Potosi at 7:05 a.m., arriving at DFW at 9:15 a.m. This early morning flight into DFW is timed to allow travelers from San Luis Potosi to easily connect to one of DFW’s more than 160 domestic and international destinations.
The state of San Luis Potosi is located in central Mexico and is an important industrial center and distribution point for the country. Founded in 1583 as a Franciscan mission, it was soon after established as a mining settlement. The city has grown to approximately 500,000 people today. Travelers to San Luis Potosi will enjoy the city’s well-preserved colonial center and its central location is perfect as a home base for other outdoor pursuits throughout the diverse regions of the state.
DFW will be pleased to start 2005 with service to such an exciting destination. The Airport hopes its North Texas neighbors will take advantage of this new flight into Mexico as well as all the other Mexican destinations served by DFW. |
