Holiday Travel Tips
Get Ready for Holiday Travels With These Helpful Airport Tips
DFW Airport wants to make your holiday travel experience as pleasant as possible. The Airport’s top three travel tips have to do with packing and going through security checkpoints. Be sure that all of your holiday gifts are unwrapped. If you are requested to go through additional screening, your gifts may be unwrapped by a TSA screener. Also, do not overstuff your bags. This will make additional screening and repacking your bags by a TSA employee more difficult. When you are in line at a security checkpoint, remove your overcoat and shoes and place them in a bin to go through the screening process. Click here for more information on TSA holiday travel tips.

Before you depart for the Airport, be sure to check out all available online information including real-time flight information and parking availability, and complete listings of shop and restaurant locations, terminal services and amenities, and airline gate location information.

FLIGHT INFORMATION
Visit the Flight Information page to check the status of all departing and arriving flights. With Flight Tracker, you can have flight status and/or gate changes e-mailed to your mobile phone, pager or PDA. If you are online, you can have the status of a flight updated every minute in a small browser window.

PARKING
DFW has three convenient parking options from which to choose:
  • Terminal Parking is located next to all four terminals; rates are $16/day or $13/day for lots just across the street from Terminal Parking

  • Express Parking lots are located at the North and South sides of the Airport; rates are $9/day or $10/day for covered parking at Express North only

  • Remote Parking is available at the North and South entrances of the Airport, and is the most economical choice at $6/day

Please keep in mind that the Remote lots typically fill up early during the holiday season. The latest parking updates are available on DFW’s audio parking report, located at the Parking Guide.

DEPARTING FROM DFW
DFW recommends checking with your airline to find out when you should arrive at the Airport prior to departure. Although DFW's security lines typically run smoothly and quickly, most airlines request that you arrive one to two hours before departure. The times fluctuate depending on whether your flight is domestic or international, and whether you are checking baggage.

CONNECTING PASSENGERS
DFW’s free Terminal Link van service is available for connecting passengers needing to transfer to another terminal after exiting security. There are two pick-up/drop-off areas located on the upper level of each terminal. Connecting American Airlines and American Eagle passengers should use the American Airlines TrAAin, located inside security at the lower levels of terminals A, B and C. Visit How to Connect at DFW for more information.

SHOP & EAT!
There are more than 160 shops and restaurants throughout the Airport’s four terminals. These include locally and nationally branded food and beverage concessions as well as gift stores offering Texas-themed souvenirs and nationally recognized retailers – all are a great source for a bite to eat or last-minute holiday shopping!

NEED ASSISTANCE IN THE AIRPORT? LOOK FOR AN AMBASSADOR!
If you are ever in need of additional help, be sure to look for DFW’s Ambassador Volunteers, who are available to help in all terminals. Ambassadors provide customer assistance services to passengers and guests.
