DFW is pleased to announce new service to Torreon, Mexico, a city with a population of more than 500,000 and one of Mexico’s leading business and industrial centers. The new daily service on American Eagle will enhance ties between the DFW Metroplex and the northern Mexican state of Coahuila. This region of Mexico is home to a variety of industry- and service-related businesses, which will benefit both business and leisure travelers from North Texas.
As a result of the daily service to Torreon, DFW now has approximately 28 flights per day to a total of 12 Mexican cities. This represents an increase in flights per day of nearly 22 percent since August 2003, with American Eagle and parent company American Airlines responsible for the majority of that increase.
The flights, which began August 1, depart daily from DFW at 6 p.m. and arrive at Torreon’s Francisco Sarabia Airport at 8:02 p.m. Returning flights depart Torreon at 7:30 a.m., arriving at DFW at 9:31 a.m. The carrier uses its 50-seat Embraer EMB-145 jet for all flights. American Eagle’s other Mexican destinations are Aguascalientes, Leon/Guanajuato, Guadalajara and Monterrey. American Airlines flies to an additional seven Mexican cities.
DFW is American and American Eagle’s largest gateway into Mexico. The Torreon flight represents the airline’s third new destination from DFW to Mexico this year; service to Cozumel and Ixtapa began in February. American Airlines has been serving Mexico for more than 60 years, and DFW Airport is proud of its 30-year relationship with the airline. |
