The signs of change are evident at DFW… literally.
DFW guests entering the Airport on International Parkway
will now find a much easier way to locate their parking product
or departure/arrival gate. As part of its $18 million signage
program, DFW has unveiled new roadway signs along International
Parkway, the main thoroughfare through the Airport.
The new signs are designed to provide guests with key decision-making
information early and often during their drive through the
Airport. The signs communicate parking prices and locations
and alphabetical airline directories for each terminal in
advance of all exits instead of on the exit signs themselves.
The airline terminal directories appear shortly after the
parking plazas, and again prior to the appropriate terminal
exit, so that the terminal locations for each airline are
reiterated. Guests will see their destination repeated right
up to the appropriate exit.
The new signs have switched to an easy-to-read reflective
blue background with white lettering, which is easier for
guests to read during both day and night. The lettering has
been increased in height by 60 percent. With the changes,
a driver is now able to read a sign nearly 100 feet farther
away than with the old signs. The extra distance gives drivers
time to make a decision as to where to exit and what lane
to be in.
The “P” icon has also debuted on DFW’s
new roadway signage. The “P” is the international
symbol for parking that is recognized around the world. This
symbol is associated with each parking product available to
DFW guests when they enter the Airport, making roadway signage
quicker and easier to read.
Identifying the correct terminal is now easier as well, with
new terminal identifiers. The terminal names remain the same,
A, B, C, E and soon DFW’s international terminal D,
but with the new roadway signs, each terminal identifier is
outlined in a bright yellow box.
A total of 150 new signs have been installed along International
Parkway, and work will soon begin to replace signs on the
carousel roads, service roads and on Airfield Drive, the road
that circles the central terminal area.
Be on the lookout for the “P” – the international
parking icon – and the new roadway signage that is improving
your driving and parking experience at DFW Airport. You won’t
be able to miss these signs! |
