| DFW is proud to have
hosted representatives from the visiting Shanghai Airport Authority
in early May 2002, providing information on the operations and
business management of the world's third busiest airport.
Because of its interest in developing its airport into a
hub, the Shanghai Airport Authority contacted DFW to request
information on the "working ways" of the management
of a hub airport such as DFW. Home to two hub airlines, American
and Delta, DFW has extensive knowledge and experience to share
with the delegates, and was happy to host the delegation.
DFW's executive staff first briefed the delegation on the
management and operations of the Airport. Topics of discussion
included security, business, and operations management, air
service development and Airport development projects. The
meeting was followed by an extensive tour of DFW Airport's
facilities, including the new International Terminal D and
Automated People Mover System that are currently under construction,
and the premier cargo facilities located at DFW. The session
concluded with a presentation by Mike Lenz, Managing Director
of International Planning for American Airlines, showcasing
the business model of a hub airline.
The delegation was also interested in the current economic
situation of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, air service
highlights, the package handling system and DFW's expansive
cargo transportation system.
DFW was pleased with the relationships that were formed as a
result of the meeting with the Shanghai Airport Authority, and
feels that the delegation left with a sound and strong understanding
of the operations and management of DFW. |
