DFW Showcases Local Art in Terminals Through January
DFW is proud to showcase two temporary exhibits at the Airport terminals through January. The Airport is pleased to welcome the Fort Worth longhorn and Dallas Pegasus to DFW terminals for the enjoyment of DFW guests and the local community.

Texas-Sized Fort Worth Longhorn
The longhorns located in DFW's terminals, currently at the public side of Terminal B near Gate B20 and Terminal C near Gate C2, are part of Fort Worth's BulLovArts program, a public art extravaganza featuring "un-believe-a-bull" herds and strays of fiberglass, Texas-size longhorns that have been creatively transformed into fun works of art.

Fort Worth artist Johnny Pate created the original sculpture that was made into a mold from which numerous fiberglass longhorns are cast. Artists individualize these fiberglass forms transforming them into whimsical bovine. The Texas longhorn was selected for this program because it exemplifies America's courage and stamina and has made a tremendous impact on the culture, economy and history of Fort Worth, of Texas and of the nation.

Pegasus - Symbol of Dallas
The Pegasus is part of the Dallas Soars! program, an exciting public art exhibition and cultural tourism initiative that promotes the City of Dallas and fills its streets with expressions of a city that "soars." It is currently located at the public side of DFW's Terminal B near Gate B20, but will be traveling to DFW's other terminals in the near future.

Dallas Soars! is a public-private partnership that connects the city's business community with the community of artists. An individual, local business or civic organization may support the Dallas Soars! project by purchasing a Pegasus that is then transformed into a work of art by local artists. The result is a public art exhibition of 200 unique sculptures throughout Dallas. Eventually the Pegasus collection will be sold in a charity auction benefiting the Dallas Adopt-A-Monument public art preservation program and ArtPartners, a collaborative program of the City of Dallas Young Audiences of Dallas and Dallas Public Schools bringing arts-in-education to the children of the city.

DFW's Pegasus was donated to the Airport for exhibition by its artist, Martha Rehders, and Fred Rehders, both proprietors of Pegasus Screen Printing. The Pegasus public art exhibition will run through February 1, 2002.

DFW is pleased to welcome these sensational works of art to its terminals for the viewing eye of the traveling public. Be sure to stop by and take a look at these magnificent creatures the next time you travel through DFW!

This temporary art exhibit was part of the Holiday Helper program at DFW to enhance the travel experiences of our guests during the holiday season. DFW currently is planning a structured Public Art Program for the new international Terminal D. Please click here for additional information on the Terminal D Public Art Program.
