DFW Welcomes Air France
New Daily Nonstop Service to Paris, France Expands Travel Options for DFW Passengers

DFW Airport is proud to announce the arrival of its newest carrier, Air France! Daily nonstop service to Air France’s Charles de Gaulle (CDG) hub in Paris will begin May 2001 on an Airbus 340-300 aircraft. DFW Airport and Air France officials look forward to the inauguration of the new service in May and celebrated the announcement at the Airport Administration Building on November 14. The new service will enable Air France passengers to make fast and convenient domestic connections via DFW hub carrier Delta Air Lines.

The new service announcement follows Delta’s recent growth in air service at its DFW hub. (Please see Delta Grows its DFW Hub with Regional Jets for more information.) Delta’s strong domestic network from DFW enables Air France passengers to take advantage of the nearly 200 daily flights Delta offers from DFW to cities throughout the U.S. and Mexico.

The SkyTeam Alliance
DFW passengers can enjoy a higher standard of service and an extensive travel network with the addition of Air France, a SkyTeam Alliance member, to DFW Airport. The SkyTeam Alliance, the global airline partnership of Air France, Delta Air Lines, Korean Air, and Aeromexico, will provide DFW passengers with more travel options. Travelers can fly from DFW to Paris-CDG via Air France and be able to easily connect to destinations throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East because of this alliance. With over 6,400 daily flights, the SkyTeam Alliance will enable DFW corporations competing in the global economy to have access to a worldwide network.

Air France Brings Big Business
The new service by Air France is DFW’s second daily flight to Paris and signals a strong and growing business link between North Texas and Europe, especially France. Currently, thirty-eight North Texas companies are currently doing business with France, including, six Fortune 500 companies. Forty French companies currently have operations within the DFW Metroplex.

DFW also has strong air trade ties with France. In 1999, France accounted for 13 percent of DFW Airport’s total air trade with Europe. Many high-tech, high-value items are increasingly being traded between the two markets, including semiconductors & integrated circuits, office machinery and aircraft, spacecraft & parts.

The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex benefits from Air France’s new service in the form of impact on the local economy. The annual economic impact of the service on the Metroplex is estimated at $124 million.

Popular Places of Paris
In addition to the numerous business opportunities that will result from the new DFW-CDG service, there are many world-renowned attractions that DFW passengers must visit while in Paris:

Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower was originally built as a temporary structure to commemorate the centenary of the Revolution. Since that time, the Eiffel Tower has become an enduring symbol of the city of Paris.

Notre-Dame Cathedral
This major French religious building and masterpiece of gothic architecture contains stunning rose windows and soaring shafts that reach to the springs of the vaults.

Chateau de Versailles
One of the most visited monuments in France is the Palace of Versailles. Wanting to escape the busy life in Paris, and to keep the nobility under his control, King Louis XIV built this chateau that became his home and housed the headquarters of every arm of the state.

The Bastille
This Landmark of the French Revolution is better known today as a hip district hosting the new opera.

The Louvre
This world famous museum comprises eight supremely important collections including such treasures as the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo.

Palais Royal
Famous for its gardens where revolutionary plots started, the Palais Royal is divided into two distinct parts: the palace itself and the galleries that surround the park on three sides. Today it houses the Council of the state, the Constitutional Council, the ministry of Culture, the Comedie Franaise, where the classics of French theatre are performed, and various departments of the Beaux-Arts.

Invalides
The major dome of Paris hosts Napoleon's ashes and was part of a majestic 4,000-patient hospital ordered by the Sun-king, Louis XIV. Today, Les Invalides is a museum, monument and is used for military purposes.

Place de la Concorde
This vast and elegant symbol of reconciliation after the revolution displays the 3,000 year-old Luxor's obelisk, a 23-meter high, 220-ton pink granite monument that is decorated with hieroglyphics exalting the reign of the pharaoh Ramses II.

The SkyTeam partnership between Air France, Delta, Korean Air, and Aeromexico greatly benefits all DFW travelers, both business and leisure, due to the increased travel options the alliance makes available. Be sure to take advantage of the extensive route network offered by Air France through its Paris-CDG hub to many destinations throughout Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. DFW proudly welcomes its newest air carrier, Air France, and looks forward to the continued growth of air service at the Airport well into the future.
