Police Services for DFW International Airport are provided by over 150 officers dedicated to providing the highest standards of public safety. With over 18,000 acres and more than 57 million travelers per year, Police Services relies on the latest technologies and training techniques to ensure safety. Traffic enforcement, call response, and investigations are just a few of the responsibilities assigned to this department.
DPS Police Services is dedicated to sharing the Mission and Value Statement with new recruits, as well as continually reinforcing their importance with its veterans. In addition, as with any law enforcement agency, the department operates under a strict Code of Ethics designed to guarantee the highest level of public safety.
As a community service effort, DPS Police Services sponsors a Citizen Police Academy designed to expose citizens to a condensed version of the training a new officer completes upon joining the force. This training is vital in helping citizens understand the training requirements, and may be used to lay the foundation for future recruits.
Police Services Mission
It is the Mission of the Police Services to lead the industry in the creation of a safe and secure aviation environment free of the fear of crime and terrorism, which meets the needs of today and challenges of tomorrow.
Police Services Value Statement
The public demands integrity, character, and ethics of its police officers. Police officers must use their discretion in a way which reflects the utmost standards of professionalism and accountability. Police Services strives to set the bar for excellence in ensuring the rights of all to liberty, equality, and justice.
Police Services Code of Ethics
As a Law Enforcement Officer, my fundamental duty is to serve mankind; to safeguard lives and property; to protect the innocent against deception, the weak against oppression or intimidation, and the peaceful against violence or disorder; and to respect the Constitutional rights of all persons to liberty, equality and justice.
I will keep my private life unsullied as an example to all; maintain courageous calm in the face of danger, scorn or ridicule; develop self-restraint; and be constantly mindful of the welfare of others. Honest in thought and deed in both my personal and official life, I will be exemplary in obeying the laws of the land and the regulations of my department. Whatever I see or hear of a confidential nature or that is confided to me in my official capacity will be kept ever secret unless revelation is necessary in the performance of my duty.
I will never act officiously or permit personal feelings, prejudices, animosities or friendships to influence my decisions. With no compromise for crime and with relentless prosecution of criminals, I will enforce the law courteously and appropriately without fear or favor, malice of ill will, never employing unnecessary force or violence, and never accepting gratuities.
I recognize the badge of my office as a symbol of public faith, and I accept it as a public trust to be held so long as I am true to the ethics of the police service. I will constantly strive to achieve these objectives and ideals, dedicating myself before God to my chosen profession...law enforcement.
