Fire Prevention ensures that processes, structures, and facilities are designed and planned to provide a safe and acceptable level of fire risk. This section seeks to monitor activities on Airport property through a process of plan or design submittals and reviews.
Obtaining a permit may require an inspection prior to receiving a permit. As an example, permits are required for the use of compressed gas, storage of hazardous materials, and the use of tents on Airport property. Please click here for a list of all items requiring a permit. If you have questions, please call 972 973 3580 or e-mail firemarshal@dfwairport.com.
There are four basic types of inspections including:
Scheduled Inspections
Complaint Inspections
Requested Inspections
Construction Inspections
In addition to issuing permits and conducting inspections, Fire Prevention is also responsible for conducting fire investigations. Requests for records and investigation status should be directed to the DFW Airport Legal Department by calling 972 973 5486 or e-mailing legal@dfwairport.com.
Fire Prevention also engages in fire safety education for the general public. Presentations are offered in such subjects as use of fire extinguishers, general fire safety, or commercial cooking hazards. For more information, please call 972 973 3580 or e-mail firemarshal@dfwairport.com.
