DFW Expands Cargo Service to Asia
Added Frequencies Highlight the Success of Carriers in the DFW Market

DFW Airport is pleased to welcome the third weekly flight to Asia by Singapore Airlines Cargo as part of the airline's "around-the-world" cargo service to Changi Airport in Singapore via Europe.

Singapore Airlines Cargo joined the DFW market on October 31, 2001 with twice-weekly service to Singapore. The airline had made the decision to initiate service to DFW before the events of September 11. This decision did not change because of the airline's commitment to and belief in the DFW market and the new service proceeded as scheduled. The increase in frequencies by the Asian carrier in June further showcases the confidence in the DFW market by air carriers in a post-September 11 environment.

The 747-400 dedicated freighter service also illustrates how DFW has become the pre-eminent mid-continent cargo center to Asia. Monthly tonnage on Asian cargo freighters has increased by more than 35 percent over the past year alone and DFW trade with Singapore has increased by more than 31 percent per year since 1996.

Singapore Airlines Cargo currently holds 12 percent of the Asian cargo freighter market share in terms of tonnage, an increase from eight percent market share in November. The carrier transports high-value items such as integrated circuits, electronics, aircraft parts, telecommunications systems and office machinery.

DFW is proud to have attracted such a prestigious air carrier to the Airport for the economic benefit of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Singapore Airlines Cargo is consistently recognized as one of the top airlines in the world for both cargo and passenger service. The airline was profitable at the end of 2001, reporting $600 million in annual revenue.

The expanded service by Singapore Airlines is expected to generate an estimated $3.3 million to the local Dallas-Fort Worth economy. Currently, DFW has 22 international cargo flights per week, serving nine countries.

DFW is pleased with the commitment by Singapore Airlines Cargo with the addition of a third weekly flight by the carrier, highlighting DFW's expanding Asian network and the strong DFW market that continues to exist today.
