DFW sponsors several programs targeting minority and women-owned businesses seeking contract opportunities at the Airport. These programs range from technical/financial assistance to surety support programs. The following is a partial list of programs that are available:
SMALL CONTRACTOR DEVELOPMENT TRAINING WORKSHOP
THE BASICS: Operating a Small or Minority-Owned Business for Contractors, Subcontractors and Suppliers
The Business Diversity & Development Department, in partnership with QUOIN, conducts a ten-week workshop (February - April) that provides M/WBE contractors with the technical information needed to pursue and competitively bid Airport contracts. Airport representatives, construction company executives and consultants conduct presentations on topics such as Elements of Running a Successful Construction Business and Developing a Business Plan, Financial Management, Understanding Contracts, Bidding & Estimating, Project Scheduling, Project Management, Insurance & Bonds, Safety, Health and Environmental Services, Marketing and Art of Networking. SURETY SUPPORT PROGRAM
The Surety Support Program (SSP) is designed to identify and assist qualified small, disadvantaged, minority and women-owned businesses secure initial or increase surety bonding to pursue Airport projects, particularly in the construction area. The SSP is geared to:
- Increase the number of minority/women business enterprises bidding at the prime level
- Increase the bonding capability of DBE and M/WBE firms
- Coordinate with surety entities in expediting process of the bond packet
- Provide referrals of entities providing financial and technical assistance to DBE and M/WBE firms as needed.
