DFW AIRPORT BRANDED SIGNING

Use of the DFW Logo, color, typography and signing materials in the airport environment must reflect the overall DFW Brand Identity Program. This section outlines some basic brand principles and design points that will help DFW representatives, staff members, internal architects and sign designers make informed decisions on brand signing. It is essential that the user of this section is familiar with the contents of the Identity Section of these Guidelines. If you have any questions about the content of this section, contact:

      INSTALLATION

ON WALL SURFACES

The Logo must never be applied directly to a wall surface. It must be applied to a back panel that is mounted to the wall. The back panel may be trimmed flush with the Logo, or the back panel may be oversized to accommodate a sign message, e.g. office name. The preferred color for an oversized back panel is metallic silver. The color of the edges of a back panel should match the Logo border. Never eliminate the Logo border on this type of sign application.

      ON GLASS SURFACES

The Logo may be applied to glass surface walls without a border to allow transparency of the Acronym and Airstream. The Logo may also be applied to a glass back panel mounted to a wall if the surface is a non-textural white finish.

GLASS SURFACE SIGNAGE

      POSITIONING

The mounting location of the DFW Logo and service names should be in areas of clear visibility, above the heads of pedestrians and unhindered by any architectural features.

SHARED SPACE WITH OTHER LOGOS

In certain situations such as ticketing counters, the DFW Logo will co-exist in the same environment with other airline logos. In this instance, DFW plays a supportive role with the airline and the DFW Logo functions as an endorsement to the facility provided by DFW, not the service the airline is providing.

ILLUMINATION
The DFW Logo and service names may have an internally illuminated sign face, be back lit creating a halo effect, or frontally illuminated by an exterior light source. Care must be taken to ensure that any lighting techniques or effects are suitable for the material in which the signing is made and does not hinder or diminish its visibility. Metallic silver applications must have the proper amount and distribution of exterior illumination to ensure reflectivity of the Acronym and Airstream.
